Silent, somber, and sedated on the outside.

On the inside, vibrant, violent, and voracious.

Much like the soul, these computers contain portals to the outside world.

A simple login and you’re there.

Surrounded vastly by the floating matter of social networking and musical emphansa.

A leg shakes, and the mind breaks.

You’re the anatomical projection of your digital self.

Dear IT Manager, just as you fiddle with the insides of these computers, I need you to pull some strings in my soul and make the tick sound just right.

The first subject that I will be discussing is the recent immigration law passed and would like to remind everyone before reading that this blog expresses pure opinion and does not intend to make opinions statements or official declarations. I welcome you all to state your own opinions, contradictions, and counter-arguments towards any and all opinions stated on here. Take everything declared sparingly and with a grain of salt. Do not cry me a river about how we’re all human beings, because that is not the point of this discussion.

Firstly, I would like to say that I believe that illegal immigration has become a serious problem in the United States. Not only in Arizona, but in the entire country. Generally, I am against people immigrating to this country illegally. I believe that one should go through all the legal processes that are necessary to enter and become a citizen of this country. I also feel that the immigration law should apply to all illegal immigrants in this country, not only to Latin Americans. There are many countries around the world that have people sneaking into the U.S. illegally, and I believe the law should apply to all of them. It feels as if the media has concentrated very much on persecuting the Latin Americans which I do not agree with at all. Although, Latin countries are a large contributor to illegal immigrants in the United States, I do not feel it is correct to single out cultures just because the numbers they are hauling in are larger.

Nevertheless, although I do not believe in the persecution of Latin Americans, I also do not believe in singling out the Latin American culture with advantages either. I cannot agree under any circumstance with Spanish being a requirement for jobs. The de facto language of the United States is English, and therefore other languages should not be required of citizens under any circumstances. Additionally, I do not agree with Latin American students having special classes which allow them to have easier homework and learn English at a slower pace. If we are all equal, then we should all be treated equally. I too am an immigrant and never received any assistance in learning the language of the country. I struggled on numerous occasions to keep up with my peers but ultimately did so because I was an american in the United States, not a Romanian. When a person moves to Romania, they learn Romanian. When a person moves to America, they learn to speak English. They should not move to the U.S. and refuse to learn the language for twenty plus years. I have encountered dozens of examples and have found it to be just as strange each time. How can someone go twenty five years living in a country without speaking a single word of the national language?

Get one.

Unfortunately they can do so by being aided in several different ways. Spanish translators, spanish words on products, spanish instructions on signs, and many other things that allow people to live in the United States of America and not know a word of English. I strongly disagree with all these compromises made in our country and think that if a person can take advantage of all the opportunities this country has to offer, the least they could do is learn the language. In the same way, this applies to all the other cultures who refuse to learn English in this country, even if they aren’t as aided as other cultures. Although these may be personal problems that I share when it comes to immigrants, I still believe that immigrants should be here with legal paperwork regardless. My parents went through the legal processes of becoming legal citizens and so did I. Millions of citizens enter the United States legally and respect the laws of this country. I believe anyone and everyone wanting to take advantage of this country should do so in a legal and respectful manner.

Incidentally, illegal immigration has become such a big issue that now measures need to be taken. The fact that three million illegal aliens enter the United States every year screams a dire need for this immigration law to exist. Illegal immigrants should not be here, and if they are caught because of this new law it is a risk that they bestowed upon themselves when they decided to come here illegally to begin with. I think that this law will do nothing but help us combat this major problem that we are faced with in our country right now, and that problem being illegal immigration.
